CDC & RC started the free diabetic screening camps in the villages around chengalpattu from the year 2002 onwards. Every month the diabetic team from the centre coordinates with the local village panchayat heads & the NGO to do the following activities.

Information regarding the date & venue of the camp in village is given to public through pamphlet distribution |

The diabetic team with doctors, diabetic nurses, dieticians & counsellors with lab technicians do the free blood testing & counselling |

Diabetes awareness exhibitions & food exhibition & charts are displayed in the villages. |

Diabetes awareness puppet show on diet & complications are done by the CDC & RC team members. |

The newly detected diabetic patients & patients with foot & eye complications are referred to the near by public & Government hospitals for further management. |

Free foot testing & screening for foot problems are done in the camp. |

Free cataract screening & retinopathy detection camps have been done |
|
Free dental screening is done for all diabetic patients in the villages. |
